IW au: Howdie Finds Invisible Wally

Howdie finds Wally (But he doesn’t know it)

Who knew something as simple as trying to add a little spice to your routine would lead to finding something impossible?

No one can see it, but Wally is very wigged out at being found/discovered.

Home, recognizing that staying inside forever isn’t good for one’s mental health (even if they don’t know the full details), gently coaxed Wally into going out for a while and getting some fresh air. It would probably be a good idea to go out for a walk at the very least. Stand in the sunshine, touch the grass, and so on.

But, this is how Howdie ends up being the first to find Invisible Wally. He later gently convinces the silent, invisible person to come to the bodega for a while so he can make sure they really are okay.

(And ends up with a new, temporary roommate. Home sees him carefully leading an invisible person to his home and decides that this could actually be a good thing for Wally.)

[Consistency? Don’t know her. aka, I did a lot of experimenting while doing these]

Howdie is very hard to draw. I need to practice drawing him.

Invisible Wally AU

I originally wrote and shared this au idea for Welcome Home on tumblr, but I like it a lot so I figure, why not share it here too?

Wally is done in those pale outlines so people can see/know what he looks like when he’s in this state. Wally himself is totally invisible, so his friends have no idea where he is until he’s “recovered” enough for them to see his clothing again.

Simple Sum of the Invisible Wally AU

(because I started writing so much that I realized it would be better if I gave it its own post instead)

Wally and Home were the only Self-Aware members of the neighborhood but Wally, as the “Main Character”, shouldered the brunt of the Audience’s attention and their displeasure if he tried to go off script or break the routine.

He started crumbling under the pressure to be “Perfect” all the time whenever he left his house and being forced to adhere to the “TV Ready” state at all hours.

He starts falling into the mindset of “They don’t care about me. They don’t want to see or hear the Real me, just the Perfect one they’ve made” which causes him to start fading from sight and making his voice fainter and fainter.

Home tries to help, but their attempts just make the whole thing worse.

Then, one morning, Wally climbs out of bed and realizes that he’s just… Gone.

He can see the shape of himself under the covers of his bed, but he can’t see himself. Even his clothes are invisible. And he can’t make a sound either.

It’s like he’s not even there.

But, he can’t help wondering, is that really such a bad thing? It’s not like anyone wanted me around before.

Obviously, stuff happens, the audience’s control snaps, and Wally’s friends go Yes, actually, your disappearing IS a bad thing and we do care about you and we are going to prove it by helping you as best we can no matter how long it takes so there.

Holiday Shopping

Since the Holidays are coming up, I want to remind people that I have stuff to sell!!

First is the shop created by my dad, who then handed it over to me. https://www.zazzle.com/store/tkepner/products

My own horde of products that I’ve made over on Zazzle. https://www.zazzle.com/store/qrkepners_merch/products

And my Redbubble shop! Which has fun stickers and such! http://RoseBloodCat.redbubble.com

Matwilo of the Unovan Gerudo

Did some design planning to figure out how Matwilo looks. I mean, I obviously have the design I made in PLA (since I used him as my player character), but I needed to figure out how he would look as I drew/described him in the story. I’ll post colored versions of these drawings later.

Like making it clear that, as a Gerudo, he is a stronk boi. He gets to be a lil’ biff, as a treat.

Also, he thinks Hisui (Sinnoh) is way too cold and is always dressed in multiple layers. He’s a desert child, snow is not his element.

The Buff body type can be seen here
Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby
His hair is short and messy

A Story In Progress

Doing some experimenting, but here are the main characters of the comic that I’ve been working on. The title of the comic is still in progress but, for now, I’ve been calling it “Paranatual Case Files”.

Neil Setter, a magical, not-as-human-as-he-looks person who’s stumbled into something far bigger than he’d ever imagined, and Jean Sycamore, a Secret Agent with Psychic powers who’s just doing his job and is blissfully unaware of how big his world actually is.

Neil Setter
Jean Sycamore, the Psychic Spy

I was originally going to theme the colors of Neil’s clothes after the Asexual Flag, but it was only after I finished coloring him that I realized his clothes matched the Aromantic flag instead. Whoops! So I’ll probably go back at some point and either turn his vest purple (to finally let him match the Ase flag) or change his pants blue and leave the flag theming behind entirely.

I was also trying to do one of those see-through windows artists sometimes do to a character’s clothing to show something that the character tries to keep hidden, so I could show off Neil’s back. (Which is covered in birch tree bark.) Not sure how good it looks, or how well I pulled it off, but that’s what I was trying to do.

Jean came out perfect, though the scar by the part in his hair gave me some trouble when I did it.

Newest Toonkind Character

I now have an official Toonkind character in the Drafthouse server! Meet Kirian Blackwelle, everyone! https://ddb.ac/characters/58299799/lcR33z

Kirian Blackwelle, Sorcerer
Kirian Blackwelle

Kirian is a wandering Sorcerer (at the moment) casually exploring Einquell for the first time. He’s never left home before (or at least gone very far from it), so after an… Interesting chain of events in his life, he’s decided to see what exactly is out there.

And, because my artsy self is a bit extra, I also made a full turnaround character sheet for him too.

Rambling Rose Productions #003

And the last game I have recorded (for now) is this one! This is part 1 of what was supposed to be a one-shot campaign that ran a little long.

Rat Problems Part 1

We would have recorded part 2, but at the time we’d had several weeks of bad weather and personal problems (and we’d also been under quarantine at the time) so we were all feeling way too Brain Tired to play right then.

The other problem had been that I’d written my notes for the campaign in a way that wasn’t very… Good for reading after a certain point. So I’ve been working on cleaning those up and making them clearer so we can finally finish this one and hopefully move on to more campaigns.

(Or stop playing altogether. I know at least 2 of us are having fun but with all the scheduling issues, memory loss for how to make the discord bot work, and other things that have cropped up, it may be easier to just let it end for now… I can ask my players if they want to keep going, as I’d love to keep playing, but if it’s too stressful/not fun I’m not going to force them to keep playing.)

Toonkind DnD Character #003.2

I know, I’ve posted about Rhodey before but this is a little different.

See, I designed Rhodey before getting my hands on Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and learning that Psychic Powers are a thing in Dungeons and Dragons.

And Rhodey is my Boi. My green bean. My beloved brainchild. So of course my brain immediately screamed “Give him the powers. GIVE HIM THE POWERS!” But I couldn’t do that when I already had him in a campaign!

So I basically… made a second version of him that I could give the psychic powers to! I also changed the design between the two so I can tell them apart easier. https://ddb.ac/characters/55943318/ajds4O

Rhodey E, Yupyaen Fighter with Psychic powers

I didn’t overhaul his design really, just changed up his hair and clothes a bit. But overall, he’s still the same Rhodey as before! (Although, I did swap around a few stats even if I kept all the numbers the same.)

New Version of an Old Drawing

I’ve recently redone an old picture of mine and I’m feeling really proud of it, so I’m going to share it with yall!

A pretty Blue Catgirl

I used watercolors (some with pretty sparkles mixed in) for the majority of the colors, a tiny dot of shiny silver paint for the eyeshine, and black India Ink for the linework. I’ve very proud of it since I don’t use watercolor pallets very often (I normally use watercolor pencils/crayons).

I’m so proud of it, I made the image available as a product design over on Redbubble! Check it out if you’re interested! And please buy anything you like. XD https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/85153037?asc=u

Also, I’ve only just noticed that I wrote 2022 instead of 2021. asdfghjkl

Whoops XD
