“SYCAMORE?!?!” Mable’s yell was almost a screech, making Augustine wince. “What on earth did you do to yourself?!?”
He straightened up as best he could while balancing Charmander in his arms, letting out a tired sigh.
“Mable, if I knew how this was even possible, do you really think I would still be like this?”
It was the three Kanto starters that ended up helping Sycamore prove his identity to Mable. All three of them were instantly comfortable with him, to the point of releasing themselves to demand attention/comfort the moment they realized he was there. His reflexive doting on the little trio was too familiar for her to deny who he was, not to mention how quickly and easily they accepted it.
He ends up taking all three with him as his ‘starters’ in this instead of taking one of Urbain’s pokemon. (I haven’t decided which one will be part of this AU.)
They work out how to list/register him as ‘Paxton’ in the systems while also getting him up-to-speed on the work that’s being piled on Mable that she’s just- not being given enough help for.
